My guide to the Dukan Diet for those who only have access to the regular supermarket ingredients in Australia.
Dukan Diet - Aussie ingredients
Tempo Continental Skim Milk Cottage Cheese - This is available at Woolies supermarkets in the cold area where you can find all the cottage cheeses. This is about as close a texture to quark as you are gonna get. It also makes fantastic gallettes that don't stick to the pan. This is definately the best quark substitute in regards to gallettes that I have found.
Oat Bran - I found this at Woolies also. You can buy the generic brand also, but this was around $3.30 and its organic.
My favourite sweeteners.
Equal Stevia tablets - I use these at home & at work to have with my coffee and its really yum.
Hermesetas - Spoon for spoon to sugar. Great for cooking with.
Sugarless liquid - Fantastic for anything. I often have this with my non fat yoghurt & oat bran. Adds just that little bit of sweet flavour - yum!
Swisse Chlorophyll - Dr Dukan says taking supplements is fine in his book. Chlorophyll is the natural stuff in green veges that makes them green! I love this one because it means that even on your Pure Protein days you can get all the goodness of greens without the carbs. Taste not so great but I mix it with some low joule cordial in a small glass. The label says its best taken when you first get up in the morning and half an hour before you eat anything. I've found that my energy levels stay very stable throughout the day with this stuff and real improvements in that 3.30pm slump. And I'm absolutely sure my digestion has improved alot too. It claims to be a natural deodoriser and I agree! I'm sure this is also helping with weightloss due to its detoxing qualities.
Diet Rite Lite Salt - We know how Dr Dukan feels about salt. I found this at Woolies. It has 50% less sodium than usual salt. This diet to start with begs excess salt usage - well that's how I felt - so if you can halve the amount of sodium, its gotta be better than using regular salt. I've now reduced massively my salt usage by packing my food with herbs and spices.
Philadelphia 5% fat cream cheese - fantastic for lots of different recipes. It does have a little more than the suggested 2% fat, but being that getting anything less than 5% fat cream cheese is basically impossible in regional areas, this does the trick just fine. I use it atleast once a week to make Dukan cheesecake and it has made no difference to my rate of weightloss.
Vitarium Sugar Free Drinking Chocolate - Ticks all the boxes. Sugar Free and only 2% fat means this is 100% guilt free. Found in the drinking chocolate section at Woolies. It is a bit pricey at around $6.50 but its worth it to have in your cupboard for those times when you just want something chocolate-y. Great for recipes also or just as intended - a super yummy hot chocolate!
